Let’s get fit! Being Fit and Active around Hong Kong with your kids.

As the majority of families live in high-rise apartments in Hong Kong, cabin fever is real! What better way to get fit this summer without signing a gym membership! Let’s jump-start the start of summer with some fun new challenging activities to do with your children in Hong Kong. It also gives you a great opportunity to explore parts of Hong Kong that you didn’t even know existed.

The best part is children don’t see it as exercise per say, but rather playing and spending special time with you! It’s a great way to catch up with your child, reflect on the past week, or the upcoming week. Inspired by doing one activity, you can research / plan your next adventure together. Especially if this is new to you, you are exploring and discovering new things together! Children learn by doing, using their senses, exploring their environment of people, things, places and events. It is great to see this first hand. Public transport in Hong Kong makes getting to and from places so accessible and convenient. Here are some great places to check out with your children. With out door hikes I would recommend taking insect repellent and of course sun cream! Don’t stress, we all know the intense humidity in Hong Kong can make some outdoor activities unbearable. So here are a few indoor activities to do with your kids without breaking too much of a sweat!

Indoor Rock Climbing Wall

Located in Kwun Tong, this indoor climbing is a fun fitness activity for chidlren over six, and adults of all levels. Rock Climbing is a whole body workout, building up a solid core. Not only does rock climbing have wonderful physical benefits but it also many mental benefits such as, problem solving, decision making, concentration, sense of achievement and many more! Bubble Football

Bubble football is the latest craze, using an inflatable zorb-like bubble, there is heaps of fun to be had on the football pitch as players negotiate themselves around in their efforts to get the football into the back of the net. Children over 100cm tall can play in the special kid-sized bubbles, while those over 130cm can use the standard bubbles.

Something for the young ones (two years and up)

Ever tried Tobogganing? This fun activity offers guaranteed good times and smiles all the way down the wee-sized mountain. Little ones can pick their sled, walk-up to the top of the hill and take a cruise down...over and over again. Another Kwun Tung find, PLAY provides ski lesson and snowboarding lessons for all levels. (If that’s something you are interested in too, go check it out!) what grabbed my attention was Tobogganing, definietly something fun and different for our little people to experience.
