Healthy Eating for Children

We all know how important it is to eat healthily, and we all want our children to eat the best they can so they can remain engergetic, focused and ready for each day. But sometimes it’s hard to know how to make sure our children are eating the best possible food for them and how to manage our children’s food intake.

DMK want to share with you some tips on how to make sure your child is eating a well balanced diet everyday.

According to kidshealth.org, there are 5 simple steps into making sure your child has good eating habits and to assist them to eat a well balanced diet:

1. Have regular family meals. – These meals are more likely to be nutritious, are less likely to encourage children to snack on bad foods, and continues to encourage these good habits for children as they become teenagers and then into adulthood.

2. Serve a variety of healthy foods and snacks.

3. Be a role model by eating healthy yourself.

4. Avoid battles over food.

- Serve right-sized portions.

Finally, have fun cooking with your children. Get your children involved in the cooking process and make time to involve them.
